S.E. Hinton, author of such classics as "The Outsiders," "Tex," and "Rumble Fish," has just joined other famous writers who have decided to use the comic book medium to tell their stories. This week sees the release of Hinton's first graphic novel, "The Puppy Sister," by Bluewater Productions. Joining Hinton on the all-ages book is the creative team of Don Smith and Yasir Fajardo.
"The Puppy Sister" is told from the point of view of a newly adopted puppy, Aleasha, who decides she'll have more fun with her new "family" if she also becomes human. The story follows her "transformation" from puppy to girl.
Bluewater publisher Darren G. Davis has always been a fan of Hinton's work: "I grew up reading S.E. Hinton's books, so to bring these to a graphic novel format is a dream come true for me." And "Hintonites" take note: her 2nd graphic novel through Bluewater will be based on her classic book "The Taming of the Star Runner" (out Spring 2011)!
