Welcome to Crossovers We Want to See, a fairly self-explanatory recurring feature in which we pitch the meeting of a pair of characters or teams from different comic companies. Playing editor, we'll dream up writer and artist combinations and basic story points.
Green Lantern & Daredevil: Men Without Fear
Written by Geoff Johns & Brian Michael Bendis, drawn by Doug Mahnke
After discovering an entryway into the Multiverse, the Guardians send a few Green Lanterns on fact-finding missions to see if they might be able to install outlets of the Green Lantern Corps there. While investigating, Hal Jordan finds himself in the Marvel Universe, scans the world for men without fear and comes into immediate contact with Matt Murdock. GL assists Daredevil in a big drug raid before Hal asks for Matt's help out in space, granting the lawyer a temporary ring of his own. Soon enough they're facing off against a full scale Kree invasion. While other Marvel heroes come to help out, Daredevil and Green Lantern do most of the heavy lifting. In the end Hal and Matt have a conversation while the Guardians go over the data he collected and decide that the Marvel Universe is pretty much set when it comes to intergalactic guardians. Hal returns home with the knowledge that there's good men all throughout the Multiverse, which gives him a smile.
Frankly, you could call this one “Printing Money” instead of “Men Without Fear” because that's exactly what a crossover of this level between two high level characters like Daredevil and Green Lantern with two of the biggest writers in the game co-writing and the amazing Doug Mahnke drawing the entire thing. We're not exactly sure what Matt Murdock's status will be post-Shadowland (this week's issue of Daredevil #513 has been temporarily renamed Black Panther: Man Without Fear) and you never know what's coming up next in the tapestry that is Johns' Green Lantern epic (Green Lantern #60, Green Lantern Emerald Warriors #5 and Green Lantern/Plastic Man: Weapons Of Mass Deception #1 all come out this week) but this is the kind of crossover that would make fans drool, us included!
