Sure, there's been a lot of adaptations and continuations of the adventures of the world's most famous detective over the years...but the estate of original Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has now picked an "official" literary heir. Anthony Horowitz, author of the popular Alex Rider series, has received the OK to pen a new Sherlock Holmes tale, which will be released in September by Orion. Horowitz's book will be the first authorised Holmes novel since the death of Doyle in 1930.
Though always a perrenial favorite, Sherlock Holmes has received a recent revival of sorts with the successful BBC TV series "Sherlock" and the 2009 Guy Ritchie film "Sherlock Holmes."
