When the brand-new Pokémon TCG: Black & White preconstructed decks launch in stores on April 6, players will also be able to hop online and learn how to play using three of these decks. Titled the “Pokémon Trainer Challenge”, player can log on to their official site to challenge any of fourteen virtual opponents. The initial decks available will be “Green Tornado”, “Red Frenzy” and “Blue Assault”, each with their own individual starter Pokémon.
This new feature is particularly well-timed given the launch of Pokémon Black & White for the Nintendo DS on March 6th, which is also going online for the first time. Through the Pokémon TCG site, video game players can synchronize save files, upload their stats to global rankings, and compete in mini-games that will unlock in-game rewards.
Following the themed deck release, the entire Black & White card set will be available in stores on April 25th with over 110 cards. Although the online card game system only supports player-versus-computer preconstructed play, there is always potential for more features to be added.
