Actor Nicolas Cage is a big comic book fan. How big, you might ask? Well, for starters, his chosen acting name is Cage -- after his fave superhero, Luke Cage. And he sort of named his son Kal-El. And he bought an issue of Action Comics #1 -- featuring the first appearance of Superman -- in 1995.
But alas, in 2000 that most valuable comic was stolen from Mr. Cage, only to recently resurface in a storage unit in California. Cage issued a statement through his publicist regarding the discovery:
"It is divine providence that the comic was found and I am hopeful that the heirloom will be returned to my family."
Unfortunately, Cage already has already received an insurance pay-out for the comic book...and according to ABC News, it might legally belong to his insurance company at this point.
Will Cage and Action Comics #1 be reunited? Will the actor have to follow a labyrinthine and arcane set of clues that will take him all across the country to find the missing book? And what does the nephew of Abraham Lincoln's assassin have to do with everything? Stay tuned!
UPDATE: The comic book is now in a police storage locker in Los Angeles, bringing Cage one step closer to being reunited with his beloved Action Comics #1.
