So I'm sitting here at the Clone Wars San Diego Comic-Con panel, post-MTV Geek video interviews with Dave Filoni, Joel Aron, Dee Bradley Baker and Ashley Eckstein and on a HUGE CLONE WARS HIGH!!! I even got to sneak into the Clone Wars panel with the crew and I'm sitting next to the vfx supervisor Joel Aron, someone I've known for 18 years from our ILM days together! BEST DAY EVAH!!
I just attended The Clone Wars Season 4 Preview Panel at San Diego's Comic Con was moderated by Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo with supervising director Dave Filoni and producer Cary Silver.
I don't know if you've ever seen Dave talk, but he's incredibly charismatic and the crowd loves him! Dave just did his best Captain Ackbar "It's a trap!" impression and the crowd went crazy!
They discussed underwater Clone Troopers for Season 4!! And a clone-centered arc dealing with Captain Rex this time as well! When talking about underwater battle scenes Dave said "Bubbles make it better."
We saw a clip of an Umbara battle scene. Umbara is a planet with no sunrises, shrouded in darkness all the time, the clones are fighting humanoids, not droids, "Something we've never seen before with all new weapons," Dave added.
Dave went on to explain that every clone is played by one actor, the AMAZING Dee Bradley Baker! Dee stood up as the crowd applauded, and Dave praised his incredible job and how the clones are ALL HIM. Cary said it was one of Dee's finest performances.
There will be an upgrade to some of the clone models, comparing original clone faces with new clone faces, more robust with animation, new armor, and facial expressions.
A little bit into the season 4 trailer, Pablo asked, is the arc of one of most distinct jedi characters, he was hinting to Dave but Dave could only give us "it has four arms." The character is the same species as Dexter Jettster, from original series, powerful character that everyone will absolutely love. Cary finally caved and told the crowd it's Jedi General Krell.
The droids are changing too!!! For example "R2 now has rockets now which solves so many problems that they had in the original films." They talked about C3P0 too but I was too busy taking notes to hear what they said!!! Soooorrryyy...
Why does commander Wolf keep changing? Pablo asked Dave. "To perfect him." Dave does have a thing for wolves!
When asked about they can do in the series, Dave said "I have to deliver it because the audience wants it, so I have to do it and Cary has to figure out how to pay for it!"
"The trick is to make it seem it's happening as naturally as it can be," Dave said.
Then we saw another clip called "Deathwatch" with Katee Sackoff from Battlestar Galactica as one of the main characters, she's a badass of course, like a female Boba Fett!! Dave's excited for all the Cosplay ladies to have another costume to rock! Thanks Dave!
Jon Favreau is coming back to reprise his character, there will be lots of recurring characters including Savage Opress, the Nightsisters. And just then 4 Nightsisters came out and joined the stage! I know one was Seth Green's wife Clare Grant, who I saw this am in the Hot Sexy Geek Panel and then SETH GREEN joined the panel as well!! Too much!
Then we saw another great clip of Nightsisters fighting the droids that hadn't even been rendered yet and that George hadn't even seen yet! BEST PANEL EVAH!!

What a great panel! They gave us a lot of teasers and clips and they were all so beautiful!! I was so proud of my pal Joel Aron as I sat there listening to the crowd insanely applaud and whistle!!
