Judd Winick is bringing Catwoman back to basics starting in September. Winick chatted with MTV Geek at San Diego Comic-Con 2011 for the scoop on the new series starring Gotham's famous femme fatale:
"She's really hot, she dresses up like a cat, and she steals things. We're getting back to the essence of what Catwoman is. She's smart. She's addicted to the danger...she's doing this because she gets off on it. She likes stealing things."
We also talked with Winick about writing female characters like Catwoman and Power Girl. Does his writing approach change at all when dealing with superheroines as opposed to male heroes?
"I like writing women characters. I do try to treat it with a different perspective. And it isn't necessarily that they have an entirely different perspective because they're a woman -- but it's sort of like what is it to be a woman who is this hero? Where do they come from? It's like Power Girl. Power Girl is very much like Superman in so many ways. How do we make her different? And the truth is, she's just in life that much funnier, more self-deprecating. She's more self-aware."
Judd Winick's Catwoman #1 hits stands in September, from DC Comics.
