A lot of you have probably seen (or at least heard of) those little palm-sized Mario Kart R/C cars, but a new version of the real-life Nintendo racers have recently popped up. They’re much bigger and designed to look just like the karts we see in the addictive video game.
Mario and Yoshi are the only characters available, but they do run on different frequencies so we can zip around the office, weaving under desks and around the water cooler in our own live Battle Mode. They also have full-featured driving controls so they can turn left or right while moving forward or in reverse.
The radio control is of the classic pistol grip variety with a trigger for accelerating and a wheel on the side to make turns. Unfortunately, they won’t shoot turtle shells or drop banana peels to slow down the competition, but that just means you’ll have to focus more on your ability to drive if you want to win the race.
The extra-large Mario Kart R/C cars are available at ThinkGeek, but they don’t come cheap. For your choice of Mario or Yoshi behind the wheel you’ll need to drop about $120 (ouch!). If you want to see Mario and Yoshi go head-to-head before you drop that scratch check out this video from ThinkGeek...
