The comic book world's glitterati were on-hand last Saturday night in Baltimore for the 2011 Harvey Awards. PVP creator Scott Kurtz was the emcee, and Fake Stan Lee (Kevin McShane) opened the ceremony with a videotaped speech that was mostly bleeped out. Also on-hand for the awards? Real Stan Lee:
Big winners included Darwyn Cooke for Richard Stark's Parker: The Outfit, Roger Langridge (for The Muppet Show and Thor: The Mighty Avenger), Love and Rockets, the ongoing Thor series, and the IDW reprint edition of The Rocketeer. The biggest upset of the evening? In this writer's opinion, the fact that the critically-acclaimed Top Cow/Minotaur mini-series Echoes, written by Joshua Hale Fialkov and nominated for three major awards, didn't take home a trophy.
