Fathom+Hatch, a New York based marketing an innovation consultancy, has been accepting submissions for Made From Scratch, a short film festival that will celebrate the legacy of New Yorkers who create products and companies from the raw materials of the city itself and themselves.
Cultivating heirloom urban farms. Designing unorthodox musical instruments. Founding new workshops in old warehouses. New York offers the chance to incubate dreams and breathe fresh life into enduring passions. It has long had a siren's call for those driven to create the bespoke, the repurposed, the transformative. It is a living laboratory for human exceptionalism.
Filmmakers, documentarians and creatives of all sorts will present six short films hand selected by a panel including photographer George Lane, blogger extraordinaire, Peter Rojas (Gizmodo, GDGT) and MTV’s own Tom Akel! Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite film and the winner, who will be rewarded with a cool $1,000, will be announced the night of the opening.
The selected films will be announced today, October 3rd, and screening and reception will be held on October 6th at 287 Spring Street New York, NY beginning at 8pm. Fathom+Hatch will also be live Tweeting from the event @ppl_are_amazing so we can follow along with the action even if we don’t attend the event. Head over to the Fathom+Hatch website for all the info on this awesome event.
