Dark Horse Comics just passed along news that their latest tie-in to the Mass Effect series of games, Mass Effect: Invasion, is getting a special edition first issue next weekend at New York Comic Con. The story, pitting asari gangster Aria T’Loak against the shady xenophobic human terrorist group, Cerberus. Aria was a pretty interesting character in Mass Effect 2, keeping order on the space station of Omega like it was her own little fiefdom and taking out any and all comers.
It should be an interesting story, although I am surprised that Dark Horse and Bioware aren't putting out something with more hooks in next year's Mass Effect 3.
Here's the official synopsis:
The Mass Effect: Invasion series features a unique story by Mass Effect lead writer Mac Walters, an original script by John Jackson Miller, best known for his work on Star Wars: Knight Errant, and artist Omar Francia known for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2. Mass Effect: Invasion focuses on a story arc featuring a key figure in the Mass Effect universe, Aria T’Loak. The self-appointed queen of Omega, a seedy space station catering to the galaxy’s underworld, T’Loak must defend her territory from a terrifying new threat unleashed by a pro-human organization called Cerberus. Mass Effect: Invasion will launch its first issue this October.
Someone pick up a copy of Mass Effect: Invasion #1 for me when it makes its debut at NYCC, October 13-16. The series will be available in shops beginning October 19th.
