The publisher details some of the comics and creators you'll see at NYCC and how to get some Aspen swag while you're at the con.
The launches of Greg Pak's Dead Man's Run and the McG/Chap Taylor/Peter Johnson horror comic Haunted City headline Aspen's big NYCC announcement. Both titles will be making their debut this weekend, the former as a collaboration between Aspen and producer Gale Ann Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures and the latter an Aspen-Wonderland Sound and Vision joint. Reading between the lines of all the cross-company collaboration, it looks like the filmmakers are attempting to use the publisher as a platform to test market some potentially film-worthy pitches with the unlimited budget of comics (although who isn't, these days).
Here's the synopses for the two books:
Dead Man’s Run takes readers into an entirely different vision of Hell from the mind of superstar comic book scribe Greg Pak with art by the talented Parker and Steigerwald.
Haunted City is Aspen’s latest foray into the horror genre as readers will see the Big Apple like they’ve never seen before, as it is truly the biggest haunted house in the world.
Besides showing off those new books, Aspen promises to give out some free stuff to fans during their panel on Saturday. You can find the full list of creators and convention exclusives below.
