We're only three days into the new year, but the Apple rumors haven't slowed a bit. According to AllThingsD Apple is planning a media-related event in New York City for the month of January, but if you're hoping to hear about the inevitable iPad 3 or Apple HDTV you may be disappointed.
Their “sources close to the situation” say the event will not focus on a new tablet from the company, which many expect will be available sometime this year, nor will there be any mention of the long-rumored Apple HDTV the tech giant has been working on.
So what will Apple be talking about in New York if the event takes place? Well, the report suggests the event will focus on publishing or iAds considering Apple services VP Eddy Cue – who served as Apple's chief representative for the reveal of iPad-specific newspaper, The Daily – is rumored to be involved with the event. However, a recent blog post by Clayton Morris of Fox News suggests the event will focus on iTunes U and Apple's involvement in education.
Could a slew of digital textbooks for college students and others be on their way to iBooks? Well, it's all rumor and speculation at this point, but we'll be sure to fill you in when and if we hear anything more official.
