Fresh off of announcing his departure from Justice League Dark, DC’s The Source blog has revealed writer Peter Milligan’s newest destination: Stormwatch. The British scribe, whose impressive American credits stretch back to the pre-Vertigo days, will swap titles beginning with May’s issue #9.
“Stormwatch has the craziness, the paranoia and the occasional bursts of odd humor that really grab me,” Milligan told The Source. “This is my kind of book.”
Milligan let slip a few teases about the book, including a crossover appearance from his own Red Lantern Corps title, more details on the origin of Stormwatch, and “shocking revelations about the mysterious Shadow Lords.”
Milligan expressed sadness about leaving Justice League Dark, but praised new writer Jeff Lemire: “I think Jeff is great. And I think he’ll be great for this book. It’ll be intriguing to see how he handles the great conman mage, John Constantine, whose twisted life I’m continuing to chronicle over in Vertigo’s Hellblazer.”
While this morning’s announcement made it clear that Mikel Janin is sticking around on JLD, no mention has yet been made of current Stormwatch artist Miguel Sepulveda.
Milligan will be preceded on the title by a fill-in run from writer Paul Jenkins.
