This is MTV Geek's Battle Arena Otaku Fight! Fight! A tournament-style, knock-down, drag-out, free-for-all, battle royale featuring your favorite anime, manga and Japanese pop-culture characters! Each arena match-up will be posted and voted on by you, the MTV Geek reader, and each winner will advance closer and closer to becoming the supreme reigning champion of the Battle Arena Otaku! Who will take the top spot? Sailor Moon? Godzilla? Hello Kitty? There's only way to find out…FIGHT! FIGHT!

What's that sound in the distance? That terrible rumble, that sound of cities being smashed and thrashed as though two giants—one metal, one mean lizard—have met, decided they don't quite care much the for the looks of the other, and taken to punching? If you guessed it was what seems now like the inevitable face-off between Godzilla and Voltron, then you're right. These massive competitors have obviously been sizing each other up across the brackets, breaking down the fools that got in their way for just this moment.
The tension has been ratcheting up for this throwdown for days as both Voltron and Godzilla were busy in their previous battles! These two just couldn't wait to get their mitts on each other!
Check out the spit and venom that was flying back and forth between the giant robot and super lizard on Twitter via @Voltron and @GodzillaSays!
And now you get to decide which one stands: the Tokyo destroyer or the universe defender?
While our second contest's competitors aren't quite as large in stature as Godzilla and Voltron, their matchup is no less titanic. Sailor Moon and Rick Hunter are what we like to think of as, more than any other contest here, a battle of nostalgia, or "which anime did you learn about anime from?" We haven't done any kind of scientific polling or anything, but for fans of a certain age, these two characters were it in terms of how they learned about anime and how they fell in love with it, either through oddly-timed runs in syndication, or worn-out VHS tapes.
Whichever one of these wins, it's a victory for our shared pasts as anime fans.

The polls close at 11:59:59pm EST on May 2, 2012!
