Hasbro's Marvel Legends action figure line has managed to become a success thanks to the recent relaunch of the line which features far better articulation and attention to detail than their previous hiccup after taking the line over from Toy Biz back in 2007. Like their 3 3/4" Marvel Universe line, Hasbro's Legends now feature character-specific artwork on the packaging courtesy of Marvel's most popular artists. While series 1 and 2 of the relaunch featured heroic designs by Ed McGuinness, it was revealed through Marvel's Twitter last week that Clayton Crain (X-Force, Carnage U.S.A.) will be taking over art chores for the upcoming Marvel Legends Series 3. As a bonus, Marvel even revealed a couple of sneak peek images!
Read on for full looks at the art, along with a couple of the figures that have been revealed so far!
While the thought of Wade Wilson playing with his own action figures makes perfect sense, we're guessing the figure itself is gonna be a repaint of the Hasbro Deadpool previously released a couple of years ago in the two-pack with Warpath. Hopefully, we'll see something new added to the figure, even if it's a different harness (doubtful judging by the art), or a newly sculpted head.
Like Series 2's Marvel Madames, this time the Marvel Knights are being released as variants. Blade was revealed at Toy Fair 2012 and features a mostly re-used body form the previous Ultimate Nick Fury and Winter Soldier figures and the Punisher will surely do the same. However, there will be some difference in the chests according to the artwork since Blade has the flak jacket-style of Winter soldier, and Punisher looks to have ammo pouches attached to the front of his belt.
Looking again at the Blade figure from Toy Fair, his massive guns make a lot more sense knowing that the Punisher will be sharing them.
Lastly is U.S. Agent as the finally figure Hasbro has verified for wave 3 of Marvel Legends. Other figures like Archangel, and Moonstar have been mentioned, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Here's hoping will be seeing an official announcement on Wave 3 by SDCC, if not sooner!
