The once and eternal Robocop voices Bruce Wayne/Batman in WB Animation/DC's two-part adaptation of Frank Miller's classic.
Weller (who'll be seen next in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek sequel) hasn't done a whole lot of voice acting in his nearly 40 year career. Still, that hasn't stopped Warner Brothers (and presumably casting director Andrea Romano) from bringing the actor on board to voice their lead in DKR. He's an interesting choice too: I always imagined a gravelly, weathered treatment on Frank Miller's 55-year-old Batman whereas Weller has more of a cold, hypnotic quality to his voice.
Weller's Batman has a Robin in Modern Family's Ariel Winter, and they're joined by Wade Williams (who voiced Black Mask in Under the Red Hood) as Harvey Dent/Two-Face. This is Spinal Tap actor Michael McKean will lend his pipes as the shrink who lets Joker escape on his murderous rampage (although no word on who'll be playing the Clown Prince of Crime). The cast announcement is rounded out by David Selby, actor from the original Dark Shadows in an unnamed role.
The direct-to-DVD features are currently in production with the first part coming later this fall while the second half will debut in early 2013. Jay Olivia is directing, adding this to a long list of comics-to-animation and film work including Young Justice and The Invincible Iron Man. Prior to this, he provided storyboards to Zack Snyder's upcoming Man of Steel feature.
