You've seen horror icon Christopher Lee as Saruman in "Lord of the Rings," Count Dooku in two of the "Star Wars" prequels and as Dracula in the Hammer films, but now you can see Lee fronting his own metal band!
Yup!
In a chat with Forbes magazine's John Farrell that was posted on the actor's site, Lee said:
I have done recently an album about Charlemagne...and this is Heavy metal. So although during my life and my career I've sung in all sorts of different ways and this is really another turning point in my career. People obviously never thought that I would ever be a Heavy Metal performer...well I am. And the results are there for the audience to see and to listen to.
He went on to say:
My whole career, in many different directions, in many different ways, as an actor saying lines, as a singer singing all sorts of different kinds of music has renewed itself in the last decade...and I don't think you'll find that that has happened to many other actors.
This isn't Lee's first foray into the world of head banging, he previously released an earlier concept album about the life of Charlemagne called "By the Sword and the Cross" and is prepping a musical that's due in 2013.
