Who says the public doesn't want to see more female action stars? "Hunger Games" heroine Jennifer Lawrence brought home the Golden Popcorn last night at the MTV Movie Awards 2012, beating out such formidable competition as Kristen Wiig and Emma Stone. Lawrence, who is currently filming a movie overseas, couldn't be there to accept the award (presented by "Bella" and "Thor"), but made a pre-taped message in which she said: "I want to thank [author] Suzanne Collins for creating such an iconic, powerful character in Katniss Everdeen. It's been such an honor to portray her and have audiences around the world embrace this movie."
"Hunger Games" swept the Awards, winning trophies for both Best Female and Male Performance (Josh Hutcherson), Best Fight (Lawrence Vs. Hutcherson), and Best On-Screen Transformation (Elizabeth Banks). Movie Of The Year and Best Kiss, however, definitely favored fangs to arrows, as "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" snagged the gold in those categories. And the Best Hero and Best Cast nods went to everybody's favorite boy wizard and the talented ensemble starring in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" (there's an awful lot of movies broken up into parts recently...).

But just in case you were missing your dose of comic book movies at the MTV Movie Awards, special exclusive scenes of the highly-anticipated "The Dark Knight Rises" were premiered, hosted by none other than Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Gary Oldman:
"Amazing Spider-Man" stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone teamed up again to present "Best Breakthrough Performance":
And those of you who are big "X-Men" fans might have raised an eyebrow at Magneto getting his butt whupped by Charlize Theron:
