Warning: this post contains SPOILERS for "Before Watchmen: Comedian" #1...
It's a question that has bedeviled conspiracy theorists for decades: who killed Marilyn Monroe? Well, according to the first issue of "Before Watchmen: Comedian" #1 -- and an Entertainment Weekly article that spoils the entire story two days before the book is set to be released -- it was Jacqueline Kennedy. Via the Comedian.
Calling Marilyn -- who is rumored to have been JFK's mistress -- a "drug-addled peroxide whore," the First Lady asks Comedian to kill her rival. F-bombs by both Jackie and her husband are liberally tossed throughout the issue's opening sequence.
While the history of the Kennedy "dynasty" has a somewhat checkered past, is portraying as a foul-mouthed murderess the woman who was covered by her own husband's blood after he was tragically assassinated -- cradling pieces of his skull in her hands in shock -- in good taste? Should there be a certain level of respect given to this former First Lady? Or in a world where former presidents are depicted in TV shows with their severed heads on spikes, is everything up for grabs?
