The soul brother like no other hitting the Sunday night lineup for his first half-hour on July 15th at 11:30.
It feels like it's been a while in coming, but Black Dynamite is finally on its way to Adult Swim in a couple of weeks. With most of the voice cast from the movie (including star/writer Michael Jai White) reprising their roles for the show, under the direction of The Boondocks' Carl Jones, Black Dynamite has the glossiest pedigree of Adult Swim's most recent batch of programming.
The series stars White as the title character in 1970's Los Angeles, hitting the mean streets and taking it to the man as he uses his martial arts baddassery to beat down all manner of pushers, pimps, and would-be players. White is joined by In Living Color vet Tommy Davidson, Kim Wheatley of The Cleveland Show, and Mongo Wrestling Alliance voice actor Byron Minns.
Here's the official synopsis:
Black Dynamite is a 1970s renaissance man with a kung-fu grip. A lover and a fighter who is not afraid to leap before he looks. His sidekick extraordinaire is Bullhorn, the brains and cunning that complements Black Dynamite’s hard-hittin’, bone-crushin’ style. Providing comic relief on the mean streets is Cream Corn and classing up the place is the gorgeous Honey Bee.
We spoke to the cast at last year's NYCC:
