Without any GIGANTIC, WORLD-SHAKING EVENTS this week, we’re going to lead off with some big releases from DC/Vertigo, starting with culinary superstar Anthony Bourdain’s new graphic novel GET JIRO. The hyper-violent, food heavy story of a future society ruled by warring chefs is funny, satirical, and gorgeously drawn. Plus, we like food comics, so leave us alone.
The Publisher also has BATMAN INCORPORATED #2, picking up on Grant Morrison’s face-shooting cliffhanger from the last issue; FLASH #10, another beautifully drawn comic; and AMERICAN VAMPIRE #28, which writer Scott Snyder promises is the big summer event for the fangy title.
Over at Marvel, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #688 kicks off the highly anticipated Lizard arc, sort of tying into this summer’s big movie. INCREDIBLE HULK #10, finds the Hulk fighting Bruce Banner for control of his body, and also finds writer Jason Aaron really getting his footing on the title after a shaky first arc. And also, there’s HIT-GIRL #1… Which finally puts the main character of Kick-Ass in the title, so that’s nice.

Dark Horse has a trio of titles we’re craving, including ANGEL & FAITH #11, which brings fan favorite Willow into the fold, and without spoiling anything, has some fantastic callbacks to the Angel TV series. BPRD: HELL ON EARTH EXORCISM #1 is a twisty ride through demon infested waters; and RESET #3 continues the most nebbishy sci-fi story of all time, and yes, we’re including “Sleeper” in that estimation.

Other titles we’re looking forward to? ATOMIC ROBO: FLYING SHE DEVILS OF THE PACIFIC #1, which, well… Look at that title. COURTNEY CRUMRIN #3 finds our titular dark witch fighting talking wolves. MANHATTAN PROJECTS #4 reveals the back-story of Albert Einstein. And HYPERNATURALS #1 brings DnA Cosmic stories to a new universe!
We’ll see you back next week for more comics!
