During this "black carpet" event at the Con, we got a chance to chat with some of the actors from the show along with the comic series' creators who weighed in on the appeal of The walking Dead. The secret to its longevity, they all seem to agree is the characters.
Kirkman adds that the comic series would be nothing without long-term plotting and planning to keep all of the narrative plates spinning as he and Adlard get to bask in 100 issues down, and two seasons of a wildly successful show behind them. The next season, as most of you know by now, will introduce the notorious prison storyline as well as the characters of the Governor and Michonne (the later getting a brief introduction at the conclusion of last season).
Season three of The Walking Dead will premiere on AMC October 14th.
