What could be cooler than owning the actual mask Peter Mayhew wore while he played Chewbacca in Star Wars? How about Michael Keaton's costume from Batman Returns, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine claws or Christopher Reeve's Superman get-up? All of these iconic items and many more are up for grabs in the upcoming Dreier Collection auction!
The Batman costume up for grabs is the real deal from Tim Burton's Batman Returns and comes complete with the original rubber bodysuit, boots, gauntlet gloves with classic Batman fins, rubberized cape, and of course the cowl. To make item even cooler, it comes perched atop a custom display with a life cast of Michael Keaton that stands over six feet tall! Other Batman memorabilia featured in the auction includes Jim Carrey's Riddler costumes from Batman Forever that comes with the bowler hat and the 38-inch cane the character carried throughout the film.
Next up is a screen-used Chewbacca head worn by Peter Mayhew while filming the original Star Wars trilogy! It's a two-piece mask/headpiece and comes with signed photographs of Peter Freeborn (the designer) and Peter Mayhew.
While there's no denying Batman and Chewbacca are awesome, everybody loves Wolverine and the upcoming auction will deliver. Not only can bidders snag Hugh Jackman's black leather jumpsuit from X-Men, a set of Jackman's screen-used Wolverine claws from X2: X-Men United (seen at the top) will also be up for grabs! The suit comes with a 20th Century Fox certificate of authenticity and the claws are also said to come with paperwork. However, Wolverine isn't the only X-Men character showing up in the auction. Ian McKellen's Magneto costume will also be taking bids and includes the gray jacket with integral red-lined cape, matching gray pants and two fiberglass two-piece helmets.
Finally there's Christopher Reeve's costume from Superman: The Movie, consisting of a blue and red long-sleeve stretch jersey leotard, with the trademark Superman “S” emblazoned on the chest, and the complete Marlon Brando Jor-El costume from his memorable role as the father of Superman!
The Dreier Collection auction takes place July 28th and the awesome items we mentioned here are just scracthing the surface of what's in store.
