Welcome to our time-traveling, space-warping round up of all the news we could find about the world’s most popular Timelord, Doctor Who. And there’s a ton of news to get through because, remember: this article is bigger on the inside.
ITEM! New Trailer On Thursday
That's right, Whovians: there's going to be a full ninety second preview of the new series of Doctor Who premiering this Thursday morning... If you're in the UK. It'll go up on BBC1's website, then premiere that night on the channel. Unfortunately, that's channel locked to the UK, but the good news is that the Official Doctor Who Tumblr - available here in the USA - will also be posting the trailer. What time? We don't know. We do know we'll be running around with our hands in the air, screaming for fish sticks and custard until it does.
ITEM! World Destroyed At Olympics... Or Was It?
Where were you when you found out the world was destroyed? For us, we were in Los Angeles in a hotel room, anxiously refreshing our Twitter feed to find out what was going on at the Olympic Opening Ceremonies in London. Sadly, real life - as we reported - didn't match up to the Doctor Who episode "Fear Her" and see David Tennant running the torch the final bit to light the cauldron. However, reports have come out that not only was the TARDIS sound played, but there was supposed to be a montage of all the Doctors that got cut at the last second. It's for the best, really: Donna's mind would have gotten fried.
ITEM! Doctor Who Gets Multiple Specials In 2013?
Feast and famine, right guys? Last week, we were all funny Doctor Who cat pictures; this week, we haven't even gotten to the goofy stuff yet, there was so much news. Included in that is the possibly over-speculated comment made by Matt Smith that he had read Steven Moffat's "first" 50th Anniversary Special. What does it mean? Read on to find out...
ITEM! Doctor Who Entertains, Weekly
Who's a complicated Timelord, who... Okay, I got tired of that already. Anyway, Doctor Who was in Entertainment Weekly, it was the first British show ever on the cover, blah, blah, blah.
RUMOR! What's Big, Green, and Weeps?
Possibly gigantic spoiler - no pun intended: in the upcoming fifth episode of Who, the Statue of Liberty may be a Weeping Angel. We've heard this rumor before, and in fact it stems all the way back to the original episodes in Series 3, when people started wondering whether Lady Liberty might be evil. So take it with a grain of salt, but hey: it's also a cool idea, so who knows? Also, it's a nice little retcon if the Weeping Angels come from France.
RELATED! Keep Calm and Don't Blink
This may be an old one, but we saw a dude with this on his shirt this morning, and instantly fell in love with him, so there you go. You can get it at Think Geek, of course.
SINGLE LADIES! Gender Bent Animated Doctors
All the Doctors, as ladies, Disney/Animated style. Love it.
SHED! TARDIS Shed & Dalek Guard
Though we don't see them teaming up in "real" life, this project is a delightful place to build your Doctor Who crafts... Or start a race of Cybermen.
