M. Night Shyamalan is set to write and possibly direct a new pilot for Syfy called "Proof." This marks Night's (his friends call him Night) first foray into TV. He'll be co-producing with "Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" Marti Noxon.
According to THR:
Proof centers on the son of a billionaire tech genius who, following an accident that claims his parents' lives, offers a large reward for anyone who can find proof of life after death.
Shyamalan's twisty, hooky style of storytelling seems like a good fit for the small screen, so I'm eager to see how this develops. The guy is a gifted filmmaker who's had a bad run of things recently. Hopefully a crack at the boob tube will be what he needs to get back into the good graces of sci-fi and horror fans.
In After Earth, one thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind’s new home. Legendary General Cypher Raige (played by Will Smith) returns from an extended tour of duty to his estranged family, ready to be a father to his 13-year-old son, Kitai (played by Jaden Smith). When an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai’s craft, they crash-land on a now unfamiliar and dangerous Earth. As his father lies dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon. His whole life, Kitai has wanted nothing more than to be a soldier like his father. Today, he gets his chance.
No word on when we might see "Proof." Keep it here as this story develops.
