In this clip from our ongoing video series "Avengers vs. X-Men: War Journals" we asked Marvel fans which superhero or heroine they related to most and why.
It should come as no surprise--especially considering we were in NYC--that smart, nerdy, regular joe from Queens, Spider-Man was the most frequently heard response from fans. But there were a few surprises as well. The consensus about Marvel's line-up is the characters look, feel and act real. They live in the real world and they deal with real problems. John Romita Jr. says it best when he discusses which character he related to most as a kid:
Superman was perfect, that's the dopiest character in the world, I hated him because of it. But when Spider-Man came around, he was an awkward teenager just like we were awkward kids. We understood them, we had a comradery with him.
