Following the announcement that Ivan Reis and Joe Prado will be taking over full-time art duties from Jim Lee on "Justice League," DC announced (via USA Today) that beginning in issue 15 the sunken city of Atlantis will attack the team, kicking off the 5-issue event "Throne of Atlantis" which will continue into the pages of "Aquaman."
Said Geoff Johns in the "USA Today" article:
...it's about taking a hard look at what the power of Atlantis is.
He also said:
Aquaman's going to have to make some decisions that the League won't necessarily agree with.
Adding:
There's all this mythology behind Atlantis that were not really sure of and no one really has any answers, and we're about to get the answers.
The new artists are working out designs for the undersea city and the main villain of the arc, Aquaman's brother, The Ocean Master, about whom Johns said:
He doesn't dislike his brother — he just thinks his brother is incapable of leading Atlantis and he's proven over and over he can't. He thinks his brother's a little naïve on how it works.
The team is already in the midst of another DCUniverse-spanning event with "Trinity Wars" a-brewing, so to say both our fictional pals and the creative folks on behind the scenes have got their work for them is most definitely not an understatement.
"Justice League" #15 hits in December.
