Home video company Mill Creek Entertainment plans to completely blow out the last 30 years of "Masters of the Universe" on TV with a mammoth 189-episode, 22-disc set in December.
According to the press release, the set will include all three television incarnations of "He-Man," from the 83-85 series, to the 1990-1991 revival, to the second revival from 2003-2004 which aired on Cartoon Network. The limited edition collection will include an extra DVD featuring previously unreleased documentary footage, a CD with the series' soundtrack, a "sword accessory," and a 48-page episode guide booklet.
I haven't had a chance to compare the features detailed below with previous releases of these sets--Mill Creek's been releasing them since 2011, so there might be a little overlap between this collection and earlier ones. But it looks like the "New Adventures of He-Man" portion of the collection will be more of a "best of" than full release.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1983-1985)
Six Documentary Featurettes
100 Character Profiles
English & Spanish Audio Tracks
The New Adventures of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1990-1991)
The top 20 Fan-Favorite Episodes on 2 DVDs
Bonus Documentary Featurette
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2003-2004)
Interviews with Toyline Artists from Mattel and The Four Horsemen
12 Audio Commentaries
A PDF Comic Book for Unproduced Episode #40
That release drops sometime in December for $99.98 MSRP. But if that's too pricey for you (and too long a wait), and you don't mind a healthy dose of cheese and Courtney Cox, the 1987 movie hits Blu-ray on October 2nd from Warner Brothers. It's terrible!
