Guillermo del Toro and co-writer Chuck Hogan are set to write and produce an adaption of their vampire book trilogy "The Strain" for FX. "Lost" co-shepherd (see what I did there?) Carlton Cuse will serve as executive producer and showrunner for the pilot.
"The Strain," about a quickly spreading vampiric virus--think "Contagion" meets those nasty Reaper dudes from del Toro's "Blade 2"--is followed by "The Fall" and "The Night Eternal."
del Toro next has the eagerly-anticipated (by me!) kaiju flick "Pacific Rim" hitting theaters. Cuse is on the "Psycho" prequel "Bates Motel" for A&E, which totally stars Charlie from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" as Norman. So there's that.
"The Strain" has been adapted into a comic series by writer David Lapham and artist Mike Huddleston for Dark Horse. The 8th issue hit stores on Sept. 12.
