Just in time for the holidays, Profiles in History is setting up another awesomely geeky auction. This time they're selling over 500 original animation cels from the 1990’s X-Men Animated Series that originally aired on Fox! The “entirely online” auction kicks off on December 1st and you can find all the details after the break!
X-Men was one of the most popular animated series of the 90’s (I remember getting episodes on VHS from Pizza Hut if that tells you anything) and was the longest running Marvel Comics based TV show ever. Even better, these animation cels were based on Jim Lee’s character designs from the comics, surely striking a chord with collectors.
According to Profiles in History, “similar cels have sold publicly at auction for up to $1,500 with the average sales being in the $500 to $600 range.”

While Profiles in History expects most of the cels will bring in $100-$300 each, don't despair if you can't afford them and want to build yourself a Marvel animation cel collection -- a quick search turned up a handful of current online auctions offering 90's X-Men animation cels right around the $30 price point.
Either way, you can head over to ProfilesinHistory.com and get all the details on this “once in a lifetime” auction and check out the full catalog of items. Happy bidding!
