WARNING: MINOR SPOILER
So who wins a fight: Smaug or Balerion? Frodo or Tyrion? Wargs or Dire Wolves? Fantasy fanatics have certainly debated which character would whoop which if a rift suddenly opened beyond The Wall and The Shire and George R.R. Martin's "Game of Thrones" universe met J.R.R. Tolkien's iconic "Lord of the Rings" in a Hobbit on Dothraki(not fair!) bloodbath!
Well when we caught up with Martin at World Con in September we just had to challenge the reigning king of Westeros to an RR free-for-all and see how he felt his fantasy flock would stack up against Tolkien's. When first asked to play, Martin was understandably hesitant, but when asked about the match-up of Aragorn and Jaime Lannister, he asked the question that all inquiring minds would like to know:
"Jaime...with or without all his appendages?"
Ah, a true geek indeed.
