You guys remember when Quentin "The Greatest Living Filmmaker (IMO)" Tarantino bumrushed DC's "Before Watchmen" panel at San Diego Comic-Con and surprised the crowd by announcing a comic based on his upcoming slave-revenge "Southern" "Django Unchained"? Well it looks like that baby is finally upon us and Vertigo sent along a first look.
The comic will be a five-issue mini series, based on an early draft of Tarantino's script for the movie, so I assume we can expect a few differences between that and the comic.
Here's the official synopsis from Vertigo:
Django Unchained tells the story of Django, a slave-turned-bounty hunter who, with the help of his mentor, sets out to rescue his wife from a ruthless Mississippi plantation owner. Drawn by R.M. Guéra (Scalped) and with flashback sequences by Jason Latour, issue #1 features a variant cover by Jim Lee.
"Django Unchained" #1 comes out December 19 from Vertigo Comics, the movie hits on December 25.
