Recently, "Star Trek: The Next Generation" actor Jonathan Frakes had an interview with NBC in which he floated around a most intriguing idea: perhaps we could get some "STTNG" cameos in the new J.J. Abrams "Star Trek" movies somewhere.
This has been a common request by the original actors of franchises that have since been rebooted -- I remembered Adam West's heartbreaking pleas regarding 1989's "Batman" well. But Frakes has done those other actors and actresses one better.
He has come up with a scientific theory, which I now dub Frakes' Law, that could explain such a cameo by Picard, or...or, gosh, William Riker even:
" It would involve our usual time travel/quantum anomaly/black hole/some sci-fi version of how we all get there."
This is quite a succinct and neat theory that I daresay it might not only work in upcoming "Star Trek" films, but such upcoming projects as "Robocop" and maybe even the new "Evil Dead" cycle.
Frakes' Law: it's how you do it to make that stuff happen.
