Next up from the Mouse House is an action comedy starring Kristen Bell on a quest to find her sister and undo a frosty curse, and Walt Disney Animation Studios has just released the first piece of concept art.
Bell, who voices the character Anna, is described as a "fearless optimist." She's joined by Tony Award-winning actress Idina Menzel who plays her sister, Elsa. According to production notes from Disney, "Book of Mormon" writer Robert Lopez is providing original music for the film (once upon a time, this would have been a musical, but alas).
Co-director Chris Buck is a traditional animation veteran, having directed 1999's "Tarzan" and served in the animation departments of several films out of Disney as well as some TV fare. Since Disney is touting this as a 3D releases, we can assume that Buck's putting his CG skills to the test (he directed the surfing penguins movie "Surf's Up"). He's joined by "Wreck-It-Ralph" screenwriter Jennifer Lee (who also co-wrote the screenplay with Shane Morris). If the ever-dicey IMDB is to be believed, "Frozen" is based on a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, presumably "The Snow Queen."
"Frozen" will be in theaters November 27, 2013.
