Last month, we wrote about toy sculptors the Four Horsemen reviving the lesser-known 1980s action figures the Power Lords, and planning a big premiere for Toy Fair. Well, now they’ve announced some details of their Toy Fair show – Toypocalypse 3: ExtraTOYrrestrial!
The free gallery show at TT Underground starts with a special pre-Toy Fair opening night party from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Feb.9, which features a first look at the prototypes of the new Power Lords toys, along with special custom Power Lords toys and artwork done by fans, and looks at toys and art from the original line courtesy of the Four Horsemen.
There’ll also be reveals of new prototypes of upcoming characters and projects from other various Four Horsemen properties and licenses, including Mattel figure lines. In addition, the opening night party will feature finger foods, drinks, a DJ…and a special guest in the form of Wayne Barlowe, designer of the original Power Lords toys and author of the seminal SF art volume Barlowe’s Guide to Extraterrestrials, along with design work on films ranging from Avatar to Galaxy Quest.
This is going to be a cool party.
The regular gallery show runs Feb.10 through Feb.13 during normal gallery hours, and there’ll be more Four Horsemen announcements at Toy Fair, including new figures for the Masters of the Universe Classics line!
In addition to the party announcement, the Four Horsemen posted pics of new figures from their line The Outer Space Men that will be available for pre-order after Toy Fair. Go ahead and get your smarmy “Man from Uranus” jokes out of the way now. We’ll wait right here.
Let us know if you’re heading to the Horsemen’s party – and keep an eye out for our reports from Toy Fair!
