At Toy Fair, Hasbro unveiled their 2013 plans for the "Transformers" franchise, which if you can believe, marks its 30th anniversary this year. A landmark that will provide plenty for us to be excited about.
Beast Hunters will be the focus of the "Transformers Prime" animated series, coming back to the air this spring on The Hub. Adding a transforming robot dragon, Predaking, to the mix seems like a good way to shake things up for the Autobots. The storyline will be integrated across all platforms, TV, IDW comics, digital, and online.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary, the Generations Line will have Bumblebee, Megatron, Orion Pax and Trailcutter:
The Legends editions have Optimus Prime and Bumblebee as triple changers.
Platinum Editions include a two pack featuring fan favorite Dinobot Grimlock and Decepticon Bruticus.
The Construct Bots line allow you to assemble a Transformer as you see fit, interchanging parts from set to set, with the ability to go from vehicle mode to robot mode without disassembling. The triple changer Bumblebee will be a sure hit.
And to top themselves to no end, in the fall Hasbro will release the daddy of all Transformers collectibles, a massive Titan class triple changer Metroplex that stands over 24" tall. The grand idea to adapt the city spanning Autobot was inspired by the Fall of Cybertron video game.
There will be much more from the 2013 Toy Fair in the coming days, where it will be going strong at the Javits Center in New York City, and expect some surprises or two from the images that will inevitably find their way out.
