What if McDonald’s or Burger King had offered decorated glasses with images from Ridley Scott’s "Alien" back in 1979? Well, there would have been a massive parental outcry, but more accurately – it would have looked something like these new Super7 offerings that will be previewed at Wondercon.
Yes, Super7 will reveal the prototypes for a set of four pint glasses depicting the life cycle of the H.R. Giger-designed Xenomorph, in all its bloody/sexually-suggestive glory. The set, which will be available later this year, includes:
- THE SPACE JOCKEY
- ‘BIG CHAP’ aka THE ALIEN
- KANE’S CHESTBURSTER
- RIPLEY & THE AIRLOCK
Each of the 16-ounce pint glasses measures approximately 5 ¾” tall, with the set of four retailing for $49.99.
Please take a moment to reflect that we live in a golden age of "Alien" merchandise, when back in 1979, the thought of an "Alien" toy for kids created a massive uproar and resulted in the (awesome) toy being banned from the shelves. Hey, here’s a commercial!
You can see the pint glasses on display at Booth #1166 at Wondercon on March 29-31. Planning on going?
