One of the most wrenching things you can watch about a creator consumed by his art is James O'Barr's interview for the DVD of the first "The Crow" movie. The writer-artist talks at length about the tragedy that defines him and the way its bled into his work about tortured souls seeking justice and peace. O'Barr returns to that theme with this June with "The Crow: Curare."
"The Crow: Curare" follows retired cop Joe Salk who is tortured by the unsolved murder of a little girl. With his life in ruins, Joe is ultimately consumed by the spirit of vengeance and the little girl's spirit to find her killer.
O'Barr, who previously returned to the "The Crow" with the miniseries "Skinning the Wolves," will be writing and lettering the book along with providing breakdowns for artist Antoine Dodé. IDW plans to release the first issue in June.
