I never imagined the real estate trade and world domination would stay relevant during the zombie apocalypse, but Diamond Comics Distributors has teamed up with USAopoly and Skybound to introduce two very cool version of Monopoly and Risk, both inspired by Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead" graphic novels!
"We’re extremely excited to be working with USAopoly and Robert Kirkman’s Skybound imprint at Image Comics in what promises to be two great games that are destined to be bestsellers for retailers," said Bill Schanes, Diamond’s VP-Purchasing.
Monopoly: The Walking Dead Survival Edition ($39.99) will, in many ways, be the same game we've been playing for ages. Players will compete to acquire prime real estate, then work to "fortify" their properties "and the resources that will sustain their lives."
Risk: The Walking Dead Survival Edition ($49.99), on the other hand, mixes things up a bit. The game will introduce a brand new map set in the southeastern United States, where players will not only have to compete against the living, but also defend themselves from the unrelenting hordes of undead that would like nothing more than consuming some brains.
The games are exclusive to Diamond, meaning anyone who wants to get in on the zombified tabletop classics will either have to pre-order through the April issue of Diamond's "Previews" catalog, which hits stands March 28th, or through their local comic book shop. Both games are slated for a September 2013 release.
