Yeun, best known for playing pizza deliveryman turned zombie-killing badass Glenn on "The Walking Dead," is getting another hot property under his belt in the form of "Legend of Korra." He's been tapped to lend his voice to a character named Wan, the very first Avatar in existence.
According to Wired.com, Yeun's set to appear as Wan in two episodes of the Nickelodeon series' second season, titled "Beginnings 1 & 2." And the title isn't fooling around when it says "Beginnings," as Wan's story dates back 10,000 years before Korra's adventures. The episodes focus on Wan "as he tries to bring balance between mankind and the spirits, a quest that ultimately leads to becoming the first Avatar."
"Steve's vocal quality and acting can range from an innocent, naïve young man, to a trickster anti-hero, and all the way to a full-fledged action hero," said "Korra" co-creator Bryan Konietzko. "And in each take, he made Wan really human and relatable, despite the mythic setting of his tale."
"To depict the world in Wan's time, the creative team drew inspiration from ancient and traditional East Asian ink wash paintings and woodblock prints for the environments, color palettes, and stylizations of the elements," a Nickelodeon representative added. "The results expand the vision of the Avatar world, but also stay very true to the building blocks of its visual influence."
MTV has the full cast of "Korra" on our Comic-Con livestream today at 4:30pm, followed by "The Walking Dead" cast at 5pm. Expect to hear much more about Yeun's new role then.
