Welcome to the second round of 2013's Battle Arena Otaku Fight! Fight!. This is MTV Geek's annual brawl between the biggest and best in characters from anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture characters. Not only will we get a chance to spotlight some of most interesting, most intriguing, or simply odd characters from 2013, but it's also a chance to you to have your voice heard. You know the drill: we'll present the matchup, and you the reader will get to choose which character comes out on top. So which mech, heroine (or hero), monster, or mascot will come out on top this year?
Let the second round commence!
Can Sora, the beloved keyblade wielder defeat Keanu Reeves' demon-fighting samurai?
When we added Keanu Reeves' "47 Ronin" hero Kai into the mix, we wondered if Arena voters would embrace a character from a movie that hasn't seen release anywhere in the world, featuring a character we don't know a ton about. But something about imprisoned, half-Japanese ronin Kai spoke to you voters--maybe the fact that he's able to face off against swirling, magical dragon ladies?
In any event, you have to wonder if that "47 Ronin" excitement will be enough to defeat the hero from one of the most popular RPG franchises of two console generations. "Kingdom Hearts" was, for some fans, one of their first gaming experiences, and Sora, one of the first heroes they identified with in the medium. Kind, honest, and dedicated to his friends, the Haley Joel Osment-voiced character has excited fans with adventures in the universe of "TRON," "The Nightmare Before Christmas," "The World Ends With You," "Final Fantasy VII," and more.
But will being well-traveled (and beloved) translate into votes when you've got a badass ronin as your opponent?
