Welcome to MTV Geek's daily round-up of all things GEEK from the weird, wild world of the web! Got a cool link? Share it with us on Twitter at twitter.com/mtvgeek!
What do you mean it's already Friday? Oh, thank Godstiel... here's your Daily Geek for today!
Two new posters for "Thor: The Dark World" movie have been released. They feature Jane Foster and the dark elf Malekith. And, look, Jane's all dressed up like a proper Asgardian viking warrior lady! I can confirm that inappropriate, extremely inappropriate fanart of Loki/Malekith has already made it to Tumblr; it will not be linked here because of reasons, but I just wanted you to know it exists so you can feel properly disturbed. You're welcome.
Reports abound that Sir Ian McKellen will be playing
Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock Holmes in an upcoming movie. The film is set in the late 1940s and features an aging Sherlock Holmes. There will be no Johnlock because John is dead or something. The film will be directed by Bill Condon, who previously worked with Benedict Cumberbatch on "The Fifth Estate"... you know, the one where Butawhiteboy Cantbekhan was Julian Assange. Additionally, Ian McKellen will appear in "The Hobbit" sequel alongside Britishguy Sillyname this year. Now, we just need to shoehorn Kevin Bacon in there somewhere and it is all good.
While we're on the topic of Benedict Cumberbatch, he has not been connected to any new movies today. Yet. Yesterday, however, is an entirely different story - he will appear in "The Lost City of Z". Possibly in shorts.
Also, can we talk about how Sally Donovan is the most underrated character on BBC "Sherlock"? Cause, really, she is. Here, read this, though. She's got motivations for acting the way she does, and elements of her do appear in ACD canon. I really hope that the source of her dislike for Sherlock will be explored more fully in the third season.
Big blow for DC Comics - "Batwoman" writers J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman have announced recently that they are quitting the series due to editorial interference. Everyone is up in arms, and pitchfork sales have been particularly healthy since yesterday.
On a lighter note, "Arrow" has a new lady added to its cast; Cynthia Addai-Robinson has been cast as Amanda Waller, an employee of A.R.G.U.S. She has previously appeared in "The Vampire Diaries", "Spartacus" and "FlashForward". In other news, The Flash will be cast... soon.
While we're talking about superheroes, "Thor: The Dark World" is getting its own video game, as is most proper for a movie of Asgard. Check out the trailer here!
Oh, look, it's Crowley, the King of Hell, with a
pink red carnation. Has he got a pickup truck too? Is he out of luck, because today is the day the music died? Okay, okay I'll stop, but anyway, SPN behind the scenes photos make me want to curl up and listen to the best of Don McLean, and I don't think that's going to stop, ever.
Misha Collins, god of the "Supernatural" fandom and Angel of the Lord says that he'd be okay with a Cas/Dean kiss, provided Jensen brushed his teeth first. This has, of course, led to a minor apocalypse over on Tumblr, where the Destiel shippers are fist-pumping like they're from Jersey and Wincest shippers are slinking away into dark corners to write their "there is no Castiel at all" fic to soothe their wounds.
There's also been a slew of "Game of Thrones" casting news, rumors and spoilers - if you want them, like, really want them, they're over here. Go get em, tiger!
Do you need a Dalek cake? We got you a Dalek cake. Here's how you can make one.
Is David Tennant the greatest Doctor of all time? Obviously. I'll admit I was hoping the 12th Doctor would be "ginger David Tennant". I guess there's always hope for 13th?
Oh look, if you have like, a spare $350, you could totally get a complete series 1-7 "Doctor Who" Blu-Ray box set. With a sonic screwdriver and everything, even. Totally worth it. It will be available for purchase on November 5th of this year. Remember, remeber, the Fifth of November...
That's all for today, everyone! Try not to make bad life choices during the weekend, but remember - eating a whole Dalek all by yourself is not a bad life choice.
