Actor Grant Gustin has been cast in the role of the Scarlet Speedster for the CW series, making his debut in three season two episodes of "Arrow."
Gustin, a regular on "Glee" and "90210," will presumably be donning some manner of red leather outfit for the CW series in episodes 208, 209, and 220 of the second season of "Arrow." The 23-year-old actor will be playing police forensic investigator whose path crosses with the Vigilante. From the official description:
BARRY ALLEN is a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.
Will Gustin get to suit up as the Flash on this season of "Arrow?" Or will the CW wait to get him back to Keystone City so that the fateful incident which grants him super speed happens on his home turf? Or maybe, Barry will already have his powers when he arrives in Starling City? Who knows?
We'll find out when "Arrow" returns for a second season on October 9th at 8:00 PM on the CW.
[EDITOR'S NOTE: Interesting to note that Warner Brothers specifically sent out the above cover to DC Comics' Flash #1 with the release. Does this indicate a closer tie with the current, New 52 comics?]
