This September, we say goodbye to "Dexter" and "Breaking Bad" but today is not a day meant for goodbyes. It's September 24th, and that means we'll all be watching Marvel's new series "Agents of SHIELD" to see if it lives up to the hype. Dear readers, we don't know what it's like where you live, but here in New York it is impossible to go anywhere without having the SHIELD logo shoved in your face on public transit and billboards. It's all over the internet. We've only blogged about it eight billion times on our tumblrs this week. Now is the time... for the Daily Geek, SHIELD edition.
To start everyone off, here's a list of basically required viewing that you need to get through by this evening's series premiere of "Agents of SHIELD". We're not saying you should watch all of it, we're saying... oh, right, actually we are saying you should watch all of it.
There are many reasons to be excited about "Agents of SHIELD". There are even reports that Joss Whedon openly wept at one of the episodes. Hopefully he was weeping because it was so fantastically done?
Also, the show's been planned out for like, seasons in advance. It can't possibly suck, right? RIGHT? It's going to be as fantastic as "Buffy" and "Angel" and we're going to weep many tears because feels.
In case you've missed out on all the hype, or just want to get a crash course on what's what and who's who, here's a handy guide to the characters that will appear in the show.
Breaking Avengers Related News: "The Avengers" totally killed "The Runways" - Shane Black and Drew Pearce explain why here.
There is a new "Thor: The Dark World" TV spot going around the internet, and it's fantastic. Thor saves the world... or tries to, anyway. Thor. Thooooor. They should have a DVD special where they just let loose Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston in the hair care aisle, and let them do their thing.
Also, while we're talking about "The Avengers", can we talk about these sweet car logo inspired Avengers art? I really like the simplicity of them.
In non-Avengers and SHIELD-free news, the "Doctor Who" 50th anniversary is fast approaching. So, we're getting quite a few nice things now - like limited edition New Zealand coins that are available in, oh, NEW ZEALAND. And the UK. That's nice. Do we get a "Doctor Who" coin here too, Obama? Please say yes.
Also, John Barrowman, who played the beloved, dashing Jack Harkness on "Doctor Who" and its spinoff "Torchwood" will be at New York Comic Con this year. I am so excited. Can we have Misha Collins airlifted in, please?
In case you have ever wondered who are the nine most incompetent Jedi, here's a handy list for you.
There are CW "Supernatural" spoilers ahead - but a new lady will be joining the cast of the show! Don't click on the link if you don't want the spoilers!
Finally, the Justice League doesn't necessarily have to be a movie. It could be other things. Like, you know, a TV show. Here's my suggestions for making the JL more relevant to today's audiences - make Wonder Woman's costume reasonable, and make her awesome; also, cross over the universes with "Supernatural".
