Along with this collection of wallpaper-ready character portraits from Tim Burton's upcoming black and white, 3D stop-motion flick Frankenweenie, Disney has also passed along character bios for these residents of the town of New Holland, where protagonist and Frankenstein-in-training Victor lives.

Collectible doll makers Tonner always put out some gorgeous stuff -- everything from Harry Potter to Twilight to DC/Marvel superheroines. So when this reporter visited them at this year's Toy Fair, she wondered aloud if Hunger Games dolls might not be too far behind. Well, it's happened: the company recently announced that they have acquired the license to produce 16-17 inch dolls based on the hit movie.
No date has been set yet for release, but they've announced the characters they will be sculpting dolls for: Katniss Everdeen (as portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta Mellark (as portrayed by Josh Hutcherson) and Gale Hawthorne (as portrayed by Liam Hemsworth). Tonner also posted a sneek peek video on their site: Read More...

How did Tonner get licenses to make dolls for both DC and Marvel comics, Twilight, Harry Potter, Avatar, Beetlejuice, Tron, Lord of the Rings, The Corpse Bride, Pirates of the Carribean, and Vampire Diaries? With both Tim Burton and J.K. Rowling as fans, the answer is quality!
Tonner was kind enough to walk me through their booth at Toy Fair, where I got a sneak peek at a number of exciting products for 2012. Read More...

The recent announcement that Adult Swim is pimping an animated version of the 2009 blaxploitation send-up “Black Dynamite” stokes some nostalgic fires. We’re not just talking power ’fros and bellbottoms. It has us thinking of other flicks that were given the chromatic ’toon treatment.
“RETURN TO THE PLANET OF THE APES” (1975-1976)

This one swung through the Saturday morning cartoon jungle with stylish finesse. Its look seems to owe a bit to comic icon Jack Kirby, which makes sense. Storyboard director Doug Wildey worked on Marvel comics superhero shows in the ’60s, and he created “Jonny Quest.” The plot stays true to the movies as a trio of astronauts travel through time to find a population of intelligent apes. Yet unlike the films and the live-action TV show, this alterna-verse features more technologically advanced apes. This time they’re monkeying around with cars, movies, scientific equipment and more. It oozes with such campy cool that “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” fans may just beat their chests over it.

How does a staunch punk rationalist with a Charles Darwin tattoo deal with a Lovecraftian tar-like horror from the depths of hell? Well, maybe her unique interests are why she's the right girl for the job. In Aaron Alexovich and Drew Rausch's webcomic ELDRITCH!, said Darwin-fan Anya is put at odds with her demonically-possessed folklore-loving brother, all against the backdrop of generic suburban sprawl.
ELDTRITCH! is emblematic of the struggle between "believers" (in this case, believers in "The Old Ones" of yore), and those who embrace a more rational, scientific approach. This is symbolized by the first page of Darwin heading down into the watery depths in his bathysphere. Rationalist Anya is being plunged into the dark world of the occult and unknown -- can she fight something she doesn't even really believe in? Or will the seemingly-disparate worlds of Science and Magic find a common ground?

As we told you earlier this week, Napoleon Dynamite is finally coming to TV as a new animated show… Seven years after it first hit movie theaters. But Napoleon isn’t the only tardy Movie to TV adaptation. Here are ten others that took their sweet time:
Three years may not seem like a long time to turn around a hit sci-fi movie like 1994’s Stargate into a TV show, 1997’s Stargate: SG1… Except when putting together this list, we had to get rid of everything from Men in Black to Beetlejuice because they took a year or less to launch*. So in adaptation terms, three years is an eternity. When the show did finally launch, it followed the idea of the movie (ancient aliens who are kind of like Egyptians seed the galaxy with interdimensional teleporters called Stargates), and adapted to a weekly, planet of the week format. Clearly the time they waited was worth it, too, as the show ran for ten years and launched two spin-offs.

You like Jedi? Of course you do! So rejoice, 'cause we here at MTV Geek are welcoming you to our review of Hasbro’s Jedi Luke Skywalker from their Star Wars: Vintage Collection line of action figures. He’s recognizable, super articulated, and from the original trilogy. Those 3 things are surely enough to make him a recommended buy, right? Right?! We shall see…
Luke Skywalker, for all you readers unfamiliar with Star Wars, is an android. The Skynet Corporation sent Luke back in time with the prospect of recovering the One Ring and destroying it in the fires of Mount Doom. His band of fellow Jedi consists of: Wolverine, Chewbacca, Egon Spengler, & Tron. Hijinks ensue, and after helping to stop terrorists from taking over Nokatomi Tower, Luke Skywalker used his green popsicle-sword to finally send Beetlejuice back to the Land of the Dead! Nah, we’re just screwing with you! Of course, if you actually don’t know who Luke Skywalker is…well, we pity you and hope that you can use this new-fangled internet to find the answers for yourself, since you’ve obviously been locked up in some kind of makeshift dungeon since the 1970s.
