SDCC 2012: NECA and WizKids Have a Colossal Heroclix Exclusive

Dr. Henry Pym's screw-ups far outweigh his successes, what with that whole spousal abuse rep, and by creating the Ultron A.I. which is pretty much on a course for one day ruling the entire planet. However, there's no denying that Pym Particles are pretty cool and using them for growing to enormous sizes has advantages, and now NECA and WizKids are showing how useful that can truly be-- in the realm of Heroclix, at least! Yep, hot on the heels of the Marvel Galactic Guardians set of Heroclix, comes Chaos War with the advance SDCC-Exclusive Colossal Heroclix figure being none other than Henry Pym a.k.a. Giant-Man!

Serve and Protect With The Robocop Figure From NECA

Back in the 80s, when a movie was rated "R" you knew it was for a good reason. One of the best films we managed to sneak our way into during that wonderful decade was Robocop. Why was it rated R? Cause there's a scene in which Officer Murphy gets shot about a billion friggin' times in full frame, that's why! The image of his hand bursting to meat and crimson splatter was burned into our brains as the epitome of Hollywood violence. Then, Kenner brought out a toyline for children. Don't kid yourselves, the 1980s were awesome! Now, a little of that nostalgia has found its way back into our hands in the form of NECA Toys' latest release in their Reel Toys line: Robocop! WizKids Unveils Watchmen: Crimebusters Heroclix Set!

A chill just ran through Alan Moore's beard. This September, the game of Heroclix once again gets an infusion of “grim and gritty” with the release of WizKids/NECA's newest box set-- The Watchmen: Crimebusters! Following the style of their Brightest Day and Green Lantern Movie sets, the Watchmen make their way in a pretty impressive and affordable package. 2 maps, dice, a rule sheet, and 6 figures make up the set (Dr. Manhattan, Ozymandias, The Comedian, Silk Spectre II, Nite Owl II, & Rorshach), and while being obvious sculpts from the film they seem to have adopted the DC Comics’ coloring from the classic graphic novel. Notice those sweet purple pants on Rorschach? Yeah, we did too.

NECA Toys' Crysis 2 Nanosuit Figure Review

After touring NECA’s booth at this year’s Toy Fair, our yearning to own their figure of the Nanosuit 2 from Crysis 2, was just too much. Practically moments after the show was over for the day, we made our way to the Times Square Toys R’ Us and began scouring the shelves for this super-articulated piece of awesome! He was hidden away in the video game section (fitting we suppose), and we came away from that den of plastic one alien-killin’-badass richer!

This figure is based on Alcatraz, the main character in Crysis 2. He’s a member of Marine Force Recon and is assisting in driving out the alien invaders from the Big Apple. The suit allows for augmented strength, speed, and cloaking; while, the helmet gives various fields of vision and upped hearing. This version of the suit is an upgraded version of the one worn by Nomad in the first Crysis game.

The sculpt on this figure looks spot-on with everything we’ve seen from the game. From the helmet’s opaque lenses to the joints on the gloves, NECA has made sure the Nanosuit 2 is extremely accurate. Every fibrous element of the suit is here and it looks as if it belongs right there in the heart of New York City, gunning down mechs and ripping the throats out of alien soldiers!

Top 3 Movie Toys from Toy Fair 2011: Thor, Green Lantern and Gremlins

Today on MTV Geek, we’re taking a look at the Top 3 movie-based toy lines that we had the pleasure of checking out during this year’s Toy Fair! You can probably guess our picks, because judging by the views; they’re your picks as well!

1. The Thunder Rolls

The latest trailer for Thor has boosted our excitement levels to 11 and these toys will help console our impatience as we wait out the May 6th release date of the film! Also, the film’s supporting cast of Asgardian warriors will help boost our Marvel Universe collection, that otherwise might not see some of these guys otherwise.

Toy Fair 2011: NECA's Terminator Action Figures!

Ahhhh, 1984! It was the year the world was introduced to 3 things that could possibly bring about an apocalyptic future: the minivan, The Cosby Show, and the dreadful discovery that Terminator androids would soon wipe out humanity. Yes, 1984 was the year Arnold Schwarzenegger became the Terminator to millions of Americans as they sat in the dark theaters, witnessing him gun down random women named Sarah Connor and just about anyone else who happened to cross his path. Fast forward 27 or so years later and NECA Toys is finally bringing the original T-800 into your home. Sure there have been Terminator figures before, but those have all been based on later films, and while good, just didn’t have that 80’s feel to them. This was long before Schwarzenegger was the protective robot guardian to John Connor. No, this was the Terminator that rarely spoke and had no qualms about pulling the trigger on anyone that got in his way!

At the 2011 Toy Fair, NECA had 5 figures on display from their Terminator line. 3 were versions of the T-800 from the original film, while the other 2 were based on the T-1000 from T2 played by Robert Patrick. While other companies have produced Terminator toys in the past, and with NECA even doing their own for the later films, it’s surprising after all this time that there can still be innovation in the sculpting of this line. The figures all look fantastic, from the gaping hole in the face of the menacing T-1000 to the dated haircut on the T-800. It looks like the figure line up will include: The Terminator, Police Station Assault Terminator (from the time he was killing cops left and right while hunting down Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor), Battle Damaged Terminator (from the time he was…battle damaged), Motorcycle Cop T-1000 (showing off the look when he was hunting John Connor through the streets of L.A.), & Steel Mill T-1000 (from the end of T2). All of the figures shown looked fantastic, and would be welcome additions to anyone’s collections… unless they have a thing against killer robots. Buncha wimps. The figures look to be tentatively slated for later this year.

Toy Fair 2011: NECA's Duke Nukem, Gears of War 3, and More Video Game Toys!

For all of you that are rabid gamers, look no further than NECA Toys for your action figure fix! At the 2011 Toy Fair, NECA unveiled a number of figures that fans are sure to get excited over. While packaged copies of their current lineup was shown (Dead Space 2, Splinter Cell, Crisis 2, & Bulletstorm), the protyopes for Gears of War 3 and Duke Nukem were shown. Yes, THAT Duke Nukem! He features a spot-on sculpt, massive amounts of articulation, and even his trademark cigar! After years for waiting for a new game, now fans of the toughest s.o.b. in the universe can now have him standing on their shelves, guns in hand and ready to unload on any alien/monster/jerk that gets in his way!

The Gears of War 3 line mirrors the look of the videogame, with Marcus and his squad of kill-machines getting an upgrade in the detail department. Each figure looks to have plentiful articulation that stays relatively unseen thanks to the ingenious way it’s worked into the sculpts. One big reveal of note is the inclusion of Anya, the female soldier in the squad. She is the first female figure to be released in the Gears line to date, and is a welcome addition. Also on hand was the statue of Cole in his Thrashball uniform, and a full-sized Lancer Assault Rifle complete with splattered blood-deco. Overall, NECA seems to know exactly what kind of toys gamers want to own, and we can’t wait to get our hands on these releases later this year!

Ah, screw all that! This has nothing to do with the pizza-lovin', cowabunga-spewin', happy-go-lucky Turtles you knew from the TV. No way, No how! This my friends, is a review for the hardcore, ninja-stabbin', gritty Turtles of the original Mirage Studios' comics.  Hell yeah, they're even in black & white to commemorate their unbridled awesomeness!  Sit back and lets get right into this look at NECA's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Black & White Box Set.

For those of you that have no idea what you see before you, well, I'm gonna give a brief recap; but, you really might wanna question your entire wasted existence up until now.  Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird birthed the 4 Turtles in 1984 as a kind of parody for the comics at the time.  Frank Miller's run on Daredevil was their biggest influence, but there's more to the Turtles than that.  The sheer badassery of these anthropomorphic ninjas was just too much for the page to hold and soon after they were unleashed upon the world in a fury of merchandising, TV, and tie-ins the likes of which hadn't been seen since Star Wars.  The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are four brothers, mutated, and trained in the art of ninjitsu...by a rat.
