When IDW scored the publishing rights for Hasbro's Transformers comics, they definitely made the most of it. Not only have they built up a cohesive timeline of their own Autobots and Decepticon history, but are about to have their 125th issue on the shelves! To mark this occasion, what better way to celebrate than by killing off the leader and most recognizeable Autobot of them all: Optimus Prime? Granted, this is but one of the many, many deaths he's had throughout his storied multi-media career, but it's shaping up to be one of the most epic. It comes at the conclusion of the current Chaos storyline that has been runnign through the Transformers ongoing comic and we can't wait to see how it all goes down! Here's some info, along with some cover art previews straight from our friends at IDW Publishing:

Do you like Transformers? How about old-school gaming? Well, if you answered "yes" to both of those, and happen to have several grand in cash lying around in a coffee can, then you're gonna want to check out the latest pinball machine from Stern Pinball: Transformers! No word on if this thing will turn into a robot and trash your house/urinate oil on you or if it's filled with Bay-esque explosions, but it looks like a ton of fun regardless.

As the action figure and toy industry further takes a foothold in the pop culture market, Hasbro has seen the worth in making their way to the 2011 New York Comic Con! with their marvel, Transformers, G.I. JOE, and Star Wars brands, it's kind of a no-brainer that the company would want to jump all over the crossover appeal that these licenses have with their comic counterparts. the best part? Exclusives! If the SDCC exclusive toys were any indication, then whatever Hasbro has up their sleeves for NYCC will both be exceptionally cool AND incredibly sought after.

They got pranks and jokes and tricks and stuff.

How about this for range: in a matter of a couple of weeks, NPH will have been both a singing prince made of bubblegum and a singing evil dolphin menacing a bunch of penguins. Brando never got to be both a dolphin and a prince in less than a month.

Anyway, this Friday, the man who was the glue that held the Harold and Kumar franchise together will be reprising his role as the evil Dr. Blowhole in an hour-long special on Nickelodeon. And since the Broadway star can't go anywhere without belting out a tune, Harris will be lending his singing pipes to the episode, which sees the combat-ready penguins face off against their nemesis, the dolphin doc.

Precisely where does a dolphin get his degree, anyway? And in what field of study?

Here's the official synopsis:

In the special, Skipper arrives in Shanghai on a super secret solo mission that leads him waddling right into a Dr. Blowhole trap. Without his men, who are back at the zoo, he is helpless and his memory gets wiped away by Blowhole’s “Mind-Jacker.” Blowhole’s despicable plan uses Skipper’s memories to locate Kowalski, Private and Rico, blast them with his “Diabologizer,” and render them evil monsters who destroy their headquarters. The lyrics from the special—which includes six original songs—were written by series executive producers Robert Schooley and Mark McCorkle and composed by Adam Berry, who recently won a Daytime Emmy Award for his work on the series.

You can check out a couple of clips from the special below.

Argh, the From Hell hardcover is $25 and I just bought the softcover!

Before the big-budget CG version hits, check out these pretty faithful animated adaptations in November.

The network greenlights Smith's Secret Stash reality show, bringing the number of reality series set in Jersey up to two.

Hasbro and IDW team up to bring the venerable collectable card game even more story.

Respectfully, we told you this all the way back during SDCC. But for those of you who didn't take a look at our pretty exhaustive SDCC coverage back in July, this Fall, IDW will be bringing you stories set in the universe of the card game that continues to maintain its popularity (contrary to the snarky belief of certain Gizmodo bloggerettes who will remain un-linked here). I know a lot of game developers (and just regular fans) who really get into the deep mechanics behind Magic, so I can see why Hasbro/Wizards of the West Coast and IDW decided that this is the right move for the property.

Will the oft-Auto-Tuned rapper teach Early about that thar hippity hop? Also: fans of the show are getting a free album!

Next Monday's episode sees Adventure Time go on a gender bending, parallel dimension trip with NPH along for the ride as a crooning bubblegum prince in an installment guaranteed to double the amount of cosplay options at upcoming cons.

Prince Bubblegum, to be exact. That's right, things are going a little upside down and backwards on the third season's ninth episode titled "Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake" featuring a plucky girl adventurer, Fionna (Californication and Hope and Faith actress Madeleine Martin), and her magical cat, Cake (The Misadventures of Flapjack's Roz Ryan). I can't wait to see the gender flipped versions of Lumpy Space Princess, Ice King, and Princess Rainicorn (I'm not hoping too hard, that'd be weird). Read More...

Twelve 11-minute episodes mark the first DVD release of the Cartoon Network favorite series.
