Toy Fair 2012: Diamond Select Scares Up Some Monsters

Halloween has been synonymous with "candy", but Diamond Select Toys is looking to change that to "toys" with the third series of their Universal Monsters figures! This go-around, we'll be seeing the resurrections of the Phantom of the Opera, The invisible Man, and the Metaluna Mutant whose design is still one of our favorites in the history of cinema! Our favorite part? The Phantom comes packaged with his organ, so now all of our figures can awkwardly take turns at the keys whenever we play "Awkward Family Gathering". Yay!

Take A Look At Loki's Mighty Minion With This DST "Avengers" Reveal!

"The Avengers" is so close to release, we can almost taste it! Oddly enough, it has a very metallic tinge coupled with a carbon-- chalk that up to the explosions. Anyway, since filming first began, rumors of an alien invasion in the film have been all over the internet and this was only compounded a million-fold with the release of this year's Super Bowl ad. From Skrulls to Chitari, fans have been debating what the invading force is supposed to be. This year's Toy Fair was no help in the matter as every toy company involved with the franchise kept these warriors under wraps-- and in Diamond Select Toys case, small dimly-lit & mirrored boxes. Finally as the film has begun premiering to rave reviews and the fervor for "The Avengers" merchandise is heating up, Loki's Army has been revealed. The DST toys anyway, not their true identities. Battle Beasts are coming, thanks to the fine folks at Diamond Select Toys and IDW Publishing! During this year's Chicago Comic and entertainment Expo (C2E2), DST will be feeding the rabid fans with both an ashcan preview of IDW's upcoming Battle Beasts comic book mini-series AND an exclusive Minimate of one of the new lead characters! DST has been hinting at some type of Battle Beasts goodness since 2010, and it looks like the wait is finally over!

During Toy Fair 2012, we got to see all of the offerings from Diamond Select Toys. Among the highlights were the incredible busts and statue based on this year's upcoming film "The Amazing Spider-Man"! The Lizard is particularly striking with his fully outstretched arms. Speaking of which, we really dig that the entire upper bodies of the characters have been incorporated into the busts and not just the head and chest. With quality this high, we hope DST returns to high-end collectibles full-time!

DST Infects Our Collection With 'The Walking Dead' Comic Minimates!

Toy Fair 2012: Diamond Select Minimates

Diamond Select Toys' Minimates have slowly become a collecting obsession around here and it doesn't look like that's gonna change anytime soon now that they're set to release miniaturized versions of our favorite characters from Image Comics' The Walking Dead! The first set sees Rick Grimes and Dale facing off against four different zombies-- each tiny, and in a different state of decay! Being Minimates, these will not only fit in scale-wise with the other releases from Marvel, etc., but can also share parts. That means all of our superhero Minimates are now at risk of the zombie outbreak! The Walking Dead Comic Series Minimates are planned for September, so we should have them stuffed into our pockets in time to enjoy the Halloween season.

Toy Fair 2012: First Look at DST's Marvel Select Ultron!

Hank Pym, for a smart guy you sure are dumb. Creating the Ultron A.I. has been a recurring nightmare for the Avengers in practically every incarnation with no end in sight. This has been culminating recently in Marvel Comics' Avengers storylines that claim Ultron will one day succeed in subjugating the Earth to his will, and now the evil robot can put the hurt on your action figure collection thanks to this latest release from Diamond Select Toys! This classic version of Ultron in their amazing Marvel Select line can be viewed as prequel figure to the, recently released, Disney Store-exclusive Avengers figures that included an arrow-filled Ultron as part of Hawkeye's and Black Widow's bases.

DST Selects Hawkeye as Their Next Figure from The Avengers!

Okay, so this one picture of Hawkeye from The Avengers is all we've got from the upcoming Diamond Select Toys release, but we thought you all you'd enjoy a glimpse of the heroic archer. The Hoff Returns: DST Knight Rider KITT and KARR Minimates Review

David Hasselhoff dominated syndicated TV for years thanks to re-runs of Knight Rider and Baywatch tearing up the airwaves at all hours of the night. Colossus Returns to Action Figure Form Thanks to DST!

Recently, the X-books have seen major changes as the mutant team has separated into two different factions. Now it seems that a massive battle with the Avengers is imminent. What better way to choose sides than by picking up the latest release from Diamond Select Toys? None that we can think of. Granted, any excuse to grab a cool new action figure is a good one and this figure of Colossus from the Marvel Select line looks to be one of the best releases thus far!
