The final scene in the Game of Thrones season 1 finale was unforgettable. Last night's episode of "The Simpsons" had Springfield going Westeros on everyone's ass with a "Game of Thrones" intro parody.  Just like in the beginning of the acclaimed HBO series, we see Evergreen Terrace as a gear-heavy, mechanized realm, sprouting up from the ground.  Although you never saw him in full knight armor in the show, I like to think Homer is doing his best impression of a lazy, drunk Eddard Stark.

Parody intros have become typical for the show, but there were definitely a few subtle takes on story related concepts that we thought were hilarious and worth pointing out:

Weirwood tree Grandpa was a great touch.

3 eyed crows: Spawned from Bran Stark's dreams or Burn's nuclear power plant side effects?

Congratulations are in order for Matt Groening and his staff for really knocking this one out of the park.

Before we say anything, just shut up and watch this:

Well that was f@#$ing awesome. HBO even rope-a-dope'd us by starting the new Game of Thrones trailer with footage we had already seen (Cersei entering the Iron Throne room, the burning of the Seven on Dragonstone, Daenerys standing around like an idiot), along with Varys' riddle about power to Tyrion that we saw earlier this year. 15 seconds in, we found ourselves thinking "Is this even new?" The third annual gathering of Game of Thrones hobby gaming fans has been announced by Fantasy Flight Games. Set to take place from May 18th through the 20th at the publisher's Roseville, Minnesota-based Event Center, the Days of Ice and Fire event announcement had an interesting bit of news tucked away in it: a new Game of Thrones Board Game expansion will debut there.

Designed to re-theme the game around the most recent novel, A Dance With Dragons, this expansion is being used to spark interest in the weekend event by announcing it in this manner and promising attendees a sneak peek. In fact, all pre-registered attendees will walk away with a free copy of this new 42-card deck and modified rules set. Those who can't make the trip will have to wait until later in the year when this A Dance With Dragons deck will become available as part of Fantasy Flight's Print on Demand expansion program.

A new deck of cards and a few rules twists will transform the Game of Thrones Board Game's setting from the first to fifth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series.

That's not all that Days of Ice and Fire has to offer, though. Read More...

S#!% YEAH! Last night when all the cool kids were watching basketball or celebrating a thoroughly mediocre year of films (yeah we said it), HBO dropped the first full length Game of Thrones Season 2 trailer aptly titled "Power and Grace" on the interwebs. So we spent 5 hours watching it on repeat, first at normal speed, then at half speed, and eventually just imported the whole thing into Final Cut where we went frame by frame taking this bastard apart just so we didn’t miss anything. And we do this all for you! Anyway, let’s break down what we see: [MINOR SPOILERS PER USUAL...]

The most immediate thing that grabbed our attention are all the scenes seemingly coming from the third book, A Storm of Swords. Like Daenerys razing cities, though this could just be her pwning the Undying Ones and not all the business with the Unsullied (speaking of which, stoked for those guys to show up). Also Robb Stark telling his mommy (we’d recognize the back of that head a mile away) that he loves someone??  Robb falls in love…but not until the third book, we’re positive. Does this mean the "Red Wedding" goes down in Season 2?  Considering it happens in the second half of A Storm Of Swords doubtful, but who the hell knows? Read More...

Every week we're getting closer to the day George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones makes it's season two premiere on HBO, but to hold us over until then the Making Game of Thrones blog has delivered a new behind the scenes production video – this time an invitation to the set. Read More...

Think Risk, but with a lot more political back-stabbing. And fun.

In that cool "we read the books long before they were popular" sort of way, Fantasy Flight Games has publishing Game of Thrones board and card games for 10 years. Now don't you feel late to the party?

Lucky for you, we got to chat with Fantasy Flight's sales manager, Bryan Bornmueller, at Toy Fair 2012, where he gave us a rundown on the publisher's history with the franchise, as well as a first-hand look at the newly-released second edition of the Game of Thrones Board Game.

HBO sure knows how to keep us Game of Thrones fans happy. Yep, they're teasing us again, this time releasing a behind the scenes video that gives us a look at what its like to be an extra on the epic fantasy series. Can you even imagine how fun it would be to walk around all day, dressed as one of Stannis' soldiers? I have to admit, just thinking about it fills me with a rage of jealousy. Read More...

HBO has been spoiling us as of late.  Last week we not only got a first look at some of the new characters and returning cripples, bastards and broken things from last season, we also got a video from production straight from the most “chill” of the bankrupt European countries: Iceland!:

It seems only appropriate that they shoot the frozen realm of “The King Beyond The Wall” aka “Mance Rayder” aka “The Original Mr. Steal Yo’ Girl” (sorry Trey Songz), in a place literally named after ice.  Incredible to see the hurdles production had to deal with such as limited sun light (stupid Earth, with its tilted axis), or making sure not to fall off cliffs and die. Equally great to see actor John Bradley not in his Samwell Tarley character, meaning not a complete bumbling craven (Game of Thrones vocab word alert!).

WARNING: MINOR SPOILERS BELOW.

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

DON'T SAY WE DIDN'T TELL YOU.

Winter Came! Yesterday! Casting was announced a while ago but HBO has unloaded a pile of new photos and we got our first look at the new characters joining the show for the second season of Game of Thrones. Check out below Stannis Baratheon and his firey priestess, Melisdandre; The Onion Knight, Davos Seaworth and Westeros’ token hottie, Brienne of Tarth. Also included were new photos of your most hated characters like Sansa, Cersei and Bran. But there are also new images of Emmy winner Peter Dinklage as Tyrion, and Hodor! So that’s cool. We’re assuming that most of you are impatient nerds like us and have read ahead so you’re already familiar with these new characters but we’ll try to avoid any obvious spoilers where possible.  Everyone dies in the end of this season anyway so I don’t know why we even bother.
